News & Announcements
HPM Americas is pleased to announce a meeting Friday afternoon through Sunday morning, April 11 to 13, 2014, at Illinois State University, in Normal, Illinois.
We seek a variety of talks on relations between the history and pedagogy of mathematics. Talks directly relevant to the use of the history of mathematics in mathematics classrooms are especially welcome, as are presentations relating history to pedagogy. Talks will be about 30 minutes long.
All of our recent meetings have been on the east coast or the west coast, so we are excited about meeting in the middle of the country. A meeting is also being planned for October 2014, in Palo Alto, California. Ideas for meeting venues for 2015 and beyond are welcome.
The twin cities of Normal and Bloomington are served by American and Delta Airlines, and are well stocked with hotels. One can also take a bus or train from either of the Chicago airports to the Uptown Station in Normal. IllinoisStateUniversity is the oldest public university in Illinois, founded in 1857. We look forward to examining some of its excellent collection of old and rare mathematics and mathematics education books. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield is about an hour’s drive away.
Detailed information, including deadlines and registration fees will be available in January. To read about past meetings, or for updated information, see www.hpm-americas.org, or send inquiries to Dave Roberts at email@example.com.
